Bucsom - Sesame cookies

This is a great cookie to eat with a hot cup of tea.  Perfect to have around during the holidays.  Thanks to my Aunt Sherkia for this recipe.

Ingredients
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup oil (I used corn oil)
½  teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cardamom (hale)
3 1/2 cups flour
½ Cup sesame seeds

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease a large cookie sheet (I used a 15 x 20 inch cookie sheet)
Use a spoon to mix versus a blender or electric mixer
  • Whisk eggs in a large bowl
  • Add sugar to eggs and mix with a spoon
  • Add oil and mix
  • Add vanilla, baking powder, ground cardamom and mix
  • Add flour and mix until all dry ingredients are moistened and dough is smooth
  • Scoop out dough using a large tablespoon (the kind you eat with, not the measuring kind)
  • Make into a smooth ball using your hand
  • Roll gently using your palm until the dough is about 3.5 to 4 inches long and 3/4th inches wide.  If you want to make yours a different size, you can but keep the size of each cookie consistent to they bake evenly.
  • Dip the top part in a bowl of sesame seeds
  • Line up on cookie sheet
  • Bake on 350 for 20 minutes
  • Broil until they are golden on top.  Mine took 3 minutes.
  • Makes about 30 cookies

Thank you for the great recipes!! Do you happen to have the recipe for Kubba Hamuth (dumpling stew), that you can email me?

I've seen different ones online but they don't seem to be the same as my moms.

Thank you,
Carol

Thank you so much for sharing many of these authentic and classic recipes.

Perfect recipe and very easy! I got more than 40 cookies with this batch. Try not to make them too long, otherwise it is difficult to dip into the sesame seeds. Also, instead of using a greased pan, I baked mine on parchment paper for easy clean up and no extra oil!
